Slow and Steady Wins the Race...Right?

Well, Here's my facebook page status: "I've been out of town visiting friends. I brought a small crochet project with me but caught a bad cold literally on my 7 hour trip down to visit! So I have not been working on any projects big or small for the past week!! Hence why there hasn't been an update either."

It seems like I'm always taking two steps forward and one and a HALF steps back! This crafting jazz is certainly not my main income so I try to work at it whenever I do have a day off from work or even just a spare hour or so. I just love working with my hands and if I'm at an interesting part of a pattern that is fun to work through and not frustrating to figure out then it is an AWESOME de-stresser (which spell check says isn't a word no matter how I type it, but I know I've heard it before. Oh well.) and my brain likes the exercise, haha. If I am sick then I tend not to work on projects. I'm prone to sinus headaches when I catch a cold or my allergies act up. Not. fun. at. all.

The "small project" that I brought with me is a sock yarn bag. It's pretty nifty looking with such a thin yarn and tiny stitches. I really like how it's turning out. However, this project poses a small challenge for me. I have to make two of the sides. The pattern is incredibly simple so it works fast, but I just get bored with having to do the same thing twice. I don;t think this one will be quite as much of an issue as some projects have been because I do like the way it's looking so far and I'm excited to see it finished.

--If you're curious about the blanket, it's not finished yet either. It's looking pretty good though so I am getting very excited about finishing that up and posting it on Etsy! I also apologize for the lack of pictures these last couple of posts. I promise a good one as soon as I'm home.

Well, I had a nice week and weekend. I got about half of that dreaded blanket done. The way I'm putting it together now it MUCH faster than sewing each strip together. I'm just crocheting in each space along the strips with a little extra stuff in the corners. Honestly, that's the best way I can describe it. Right now, It's midnight and I'm just finishing dinner. (Pea soup. Yum!) So there was no progress made...uh, yesterday, I guess. I do plan on getting a little more done tomorrow and maybe finishing tomorrow night!!

I still have seven things in my shop. of course I am aware that it can take months for things to sell, but it's exciting to check my shop just to see if anything has happened. It's sort of like what Jo March says about trying to sell her writing in Little Women, "Money...but it's not only that. there's a sort of nervous feeling. I like it." She goes on to talk about how people she doesn't even know will read and enjoy her stories. Ha, the money certainly does help, being fresh out of college and having school loans sitting over my head like a big gray cloud. But I just love making things and trying to sell them so that people I don't even know can enjoy them. It is very exciting.

Now, progress, or lack thereof:

A BIG HUGE afghan made in little tiny strips. Sewing the strips together proved to be very, very, very time consuming. (Not that I didn't get distracted while in the process) After putting together only one and a half rows, I think I'm going to attach the strips together another way. Which I'm going to try just as soon as this is posted...and as soon as I find the pattern booklet.

The ends of my size 9 feet are in the picture for a little reference to how big this unfinished pile of afghan is and I also need to mention that it is inside a deep bag...somewhat similar to Mary Poppins' carpet bag.

Listing and Posting and Updates, Oh My!

I feel like I've been on the computer all day updating things. This feels so slow going, getting everything up and trying to publicize in different outlets...I'm hoping to put a couple of things on Pinterest soon, but I can't find the "Pin It" but I'm not on my own computer and I can't find the "Pin It" button even though I know my mother has an account ;)

I listed 3 drawings and a pair of fingerless gloves today

I made myself a yellow cardigan out of an old shirt the other day and the very first day I have it on I smudge dark blue and black pastel on the sleeve. Just my luck!

One More Time...

Well, I guess I'm going to blog about what I really do now. I've tried music, posting links to my favorite songs. I tried to post one a day that fit my mood or whatever was stuck in my head. Last post will be a year ago on Thursday. Next, I tried posting about drinking tea. One flavor for every day. Yes, I wanted to try 365 flavors. But I'm not really a tea-holic or whatever. I like it...just not that much, not 365 days much.

I'm going to be a little less ambitious with this blog. It's just about crafts, drawing, knitting, crocheting, and what not. Things I post on my Etsy shop and things I just make for me. I don't know what it will be like a diary of my joys and frustrations of making something or a library of tutorials...we shall see. I don't expect to post every day, but at least once every couple of weeks at the least *knock on wood.*

Just for starters, the link... I'm still in the process of getting everything up and running again:
