Today was an interesting outfit choice. I had no idea what I was going to wear and then just decided to get really creative with how I style my top. I don't personally feel convicted to have my backside covered when I wear pants, but I know a lot of girls do and that's sort of how I came up with this fun ensemble. It's inspired by the pinterest posts about wearing a buttondown shirt as a skirt.

The shirt does add a little bulk around the waist so I wore a wide belt to define my waist better and to hold the sweater closed so you can't see where the outfit changes from a tee to the buttondown.

Feel free to comment if you'd like a tutorial on how I wore my buttondown top as a bottom piece of my outfit! I post every Tuesday and Friday and I would love to share :)

Tee: Sonoma- Kohls: $5.80
Cardigan: Sonoma- Kohls: $17.60

Have you ever worn a shirt as a skirt?

Go check out the hosts' sites for this event!

This ensemble, though I'm wearing it on day two, was the first outfit that I came up with for the one top/three days event. It's definitely lighter than yesterday's sweater outfit. I didn't really have dig through my dresser to put this all together. When I decided what shirt to wear I almost instantly knew this outfit would be worn. It's perfect for today too. It's my long day at work and pants are just more comfortable when I'm constantly getting up and walking around and then sitting back down when I help library patrons.

I love these pink corduroys!!!...my almost perfectly matching pink belt doesn't show up quite so well in the picture below. :(

Which outfit so you prefer so far, yesterday's or today's?
Do you like brightly colored pants/skirts or do you wear mainly denim for casual looks?

Shirt: same as yesterday: ;)
Tank top: Faded Glory: $? I've had it for a long time
Necklace: ? : gift
Belt: Old Navy: $3
Pants: L.E.I.: $7
Shoes: Lower East Side: Gift

Decisions, decisions:
This was actually the second outfit I decided on. I'm not too sure about wearing it to work tonight since it's supposed to be 28*F and it's basically short sleeves, but the sweater is actually pretty warm! I know I won't be as comfortable in it working all day tomorrow and it's not an at home outfit like I can wear on Saturday.

The lowdown on the button-down:
This white and brown pinstriped shirt started is actually a men's medium dress shirt! I found it in a pile of clothes one of my brothers were getting rid of because it didn't fit him anymore. After asking the rest of the men in the house if they wanted it, which no one did, I put it on a hanger at the end of my closet where all my "projects" go. I wore it once with a belt around my waist and a pair of brown leggings but it was still very baggy and puffy above the belt. Finally, two nights ago, after it sat in my closet for about a year, I took in the sides which helped to give it a slightly more feminine shape. I got to use my serger, yay! It's still a little baggy, thought you can't tell from this outfit, but it looks more like it's supposed to be that way now than just looking like I'm wearing a shirt that's way too big.

The entire outfit:
These two tops I have never worn outside the house. I knew I wanted to layer the button-down with something, but didn't like anything I had tried on. Since the goal of this event is to stretch your wardrobe I decided I should try on a piece that had just been sitting around since I made it. I put on this crochet sweater that has a little sparkle in it, rolled up the sleeves of the button-down and liked how the two shirts looked together.

The closely crocheted waistband of the sweater makes it look bulky in comparison to the lacy top and no matter what skirt I paired it with it looked a little funny. I knew then that I needed something more streamlined so the pencil skirt became part of the ensemble. The sweater tights and flats were a no brainier for warmth and comfort. I knew that the brown pinstripes were so dark that I could get away with wearing black, which is a good point about the versatility of this shirt!

What I'm wearing:
Button-down: Wrangler Jeans Co.: Free
Sweater: made by me, yarn : Gift
Skirt: Mossimo: $12 (just a guess...I needed a black skirt so I didn't pay close attention to price)
Sweater tights: J. Jill: Gift
Shoes: American Eagle by Payless: $13.99

This and That and a Fun Event Starting Thursday!

I FINALLY updated my Etsy shop with a few more items. That is certainly not an April Fool's joke! Please, go over and take a look! The Wizard of Odds and Ends on Etsy

I always feel so unprepared when Tuesday finally rolls around. I still have not started taking notes during the week on what I will be posting on Tuesdays and Fridays. I think that was part of my new year's resolution too. Let's see, I did a little knitting and a little sewing this week.

Currently I am working on this Glitz at the Ritz shawl for my friend's birthday. I'll have to get to work on that as soon as this is posted!! I've still got quite a bit left but the pattern works up pretty quickly. Though I'm sure some more seasoned knitters could have it done in a flash!
Here's what I have so far:

I also recently hosted a giveaway on my Instagram for one of my Peter Pan collars! That was a lot of fun! The winner was silent_miku another crocheter. I love looking at photos of her  amazing work! I think I will definitely have some other sort of giveaway sometime in the future! I was absolutely amazed when I realized that nearly 300 people viewed the Wizard of Odds and Ends Facebook page!! So, so, so thankful for each new view!  Hello to those of you who may be reading my blog for the first time! Thank you for reading, to the regular and the new viewers!

As for the sewing endeavors, I took in the sides of knee length denim skirt that was ridiculously bell shaped. It still is, but not nearly as bad. Thank goodness I still have all my fingers intact and bandaid-less because that little project took place around 2 in the morning on Sunday. It was getting late once I had made up my mind what outfit I wanted to wear to church, which included said skirt that I had only worn once because of the awkward shape. I placed one of my favorite skirts over it and pinned along the edges. The finished result is still slightly more flared than I would prefer, but at least it's an improvement!

The second article of clothing that I took in a bit was a medium men's shirt that none of my brothers wanted. I liked the brown pinstripes on it and that it was a good tunic length for me, but it was still very baggy looking even with a belt around the waist. I can't give away too much. What I can tell you is I will be wearing this shirt Thursday through Saturday for the 1 Button-Down | 3 Days | 3 Ways event which is being hosted by Boyer Family Singers, Bramblewood Fashion, Creations By Callie, and Fresh Modesty. Go check out their posts and join in! There's also a hashtag for instagram so you don't have to have a blog participate!

Hope you've all had a good week! If you're interested in viewing any of my other social media pages, link are located just above the title of this post! Check back on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday for my posts in the 1 Button-Down | 3 Days | 3 Ways event!
