Tuesday Cables: This, That, and the Other Thing

This:
I finished the bread doily!! I couldn't really understand the pattern instructions for the edging. I don't know if it was my lack of patience, the way the pattern was printed, or a true lack of understanding. I just made up something that I think looks pretty similar. When I completed the last stitch I felt a little like Dorothy reaching the Emerald City. "At last! At last!" Of course, as I've said the last few posts, I still need to weave in the ends. Same goes for the second project too.

Yesterday I became an aunt for the second time! Of course when I was texted that the arrival of the baby was imminent yesterday, my knee-jerk reaction was to grab my yarn and log into Facebook, refreshing the page between rows waiting for the very first baby picture to be posted! The results of which are this, a hat and booties. I. love. crocheting. booties. They are such a fast project and, oh my goodness, you end up with an incredibly adorable miniature shoe in your hand!!

That: I'm attempting to do a style challenge this month I'm starting today, the posts will start a week from tomorrow. I hope you all enjoyed Paige's guest post on Friday. It sort of inspired me to do some sort of fashion challenge for March. I did a little Google search and found Modesty With a Capital M. She made up her own style challenge for this month and I liked the list so I'm going to try to stick with it for the remainder of the month.

The Other Thing:
It might be time for a name change. Haha, I know I literally and legally just changed my own name recently, (as in "My new driver's license came in the mail yesterday," recently) but I think a blog name change might be on the horizon....
I'll definitely keep you all updated.  It'll be a bit of an overhaul of Facebook, Pinterest, everything, but I think it's going to happen. Cue mysterious music. Sorry to leave you all hanging there. It's just been on my mind. More Spring cleaning I guess. It's sleeting as I type this. Cruel irony.

Crochoughing and Kneezing

This making up words business is a little silly. I admit, I am no Roald Dahl. It's stemming from a lack of ideas for titles and basically combining what has happened the past seven days into just a couple of words without saying "I've had a Cold."

Over the weekend, mostly, I had a cold. I put away the gargantuafghan with the very last row about 1/4 of the way done and pulled out my rather large amounts of leftover yarn from the NASCAR blanket  to make this: (excuse the lovely yellow hue)

I had pinned a picture of a newborn in a similar hat to remind myself to make one at some point for my nephew because 1) it's cute, and 2) his dad has a strange obsession with Oreos and Cookie Monster. It seemed like every time I checked my Pinterest there was a notification that someone liked or repinned that picture. I ended up with about 50 reminders to crochet that hat!

In my ever growing yarn stash I also had some crochet thread that had been thrown into a drawer under my bed for quite some time because it was just too frustrating to work with. I found a pattern I wanted to make and finally sat down determined to make it work and to start using up the thread. Here is a link to that pattern:  February's Valentine Pattern
And a picture my finished product:

I love working on small projects when I have a cold because I at least have some feeling of accomplishment for the day when I've finished them!! I'm still feeling a just little blah,  but definitely on the getting better side of the cold now!!

Christmas in July

First of all...

Etsy Expiring Listings Sale!! Toddler Hat, Shawl, and Crochet Tote just $5 each!!!! (They would make excellent gifts for Christmas in July! ;) ) www.etsy.com/shop/wizardofoddsandends

Secondly...

As I expected to happen, I have fallen behind on my 29 days challenge. When you make 2 different doilies and unravel them both to make a third that you decided you liked better...you get behind with things. I am, however, keeping a rough daily record of what I worked on so I will be able to give an accurate account of crafts completed in the not-so-distant future.

Thirdly...

I think that's all for now. It's late and I have to go to sleep.
