Shawl I Tell You What I Think of You?

You don't mind if I recycle a picture do you? I'm STILL working on this.

I knew I was slower at knitting than crocheting, but this is just ridiculous! I'm still working on the Glitz at the Ritz shawl pattern. The instructions are fairly straight forward and understandable for someone like me who doesn't really do all that much knitting. Thank goodness for YouTube tutorials on knitting stitches! It's very pretty so far, from what I can tell, even though I did give up on counting stitches at a few spots. If I'm not mistaken, the first time you count what's on a needle you should have 217 stitches!! Remember, this is sock yarn... That's 217 tiny, skinny, little stitches that you have to count!

I am determined to see this project through! I'm on the star lace section now. I just have a feeling not every stitch is going to line up where it should. I guess that's some motivation to keep working on it, just to see if it all actually lines up.

Well, that's what was on the needles this week!
Did anyone get the title reference to a deleted song from The King and I (1956)? ;)

Shawls, Shells, and a Makeover Without Makeup

Within the past week I actually finished two projects! Small projects, yes, but it feels so good to actually be able to finish not one, but two things before I am totally burnt out and bored with what I'm working on. Both Items are (belated) birthday gifts for my friend and I'm going to post pictures.

First to take up some space, so that maybe she won't peek, I'll share with you a book I've started reading. "How to Sell Your Crafts Online." I'm on chapter three and so far I have found it extremely helpful!! It focuses on setting up a nice looking Etsy shop and gives tips on what will generate traffic. It also talks about how to utilize other social media to your best advantage but I haven't gotten that far yet. My Etsy Shop will be undergoing a little makeover for about the next month, so you may notices slight difference when you visit for the next four weeks. Although, I think I've probably already made some of the biggest and most noticeable changes. Mainly just adding a banner (which I added here on the blog as well, at the moment.) and a brief shop announcement. Please, check it out and let me know what you think so far!

Alright, here are the birthday presents:
The shawl hopefully looks familiar from last week's post. I finished it! I had one entire day off last week and spent it crocheting and having a classic movie mini marathon.
I know I've mentioned it before but I LOVE  the color of this yarn! Caron Simply Soft: Pagoda.

And this second project was a spur of the moment thing. I had absolutely no idea what she wanted this year! Usually I have at least a rough idea. Then everything sort of fell together. A page I follow on Facebook (can't remember which!) posted a link to Lion Brand's Solid Shell Crochet Jewelry Frame. I remembered that my friend kept her earrings hung over the edge of a small jar, so I think she'll like this. I have to say, I was pretty thrilled when I posted a picture of it in progress on Instagram and Lion Brand liked and commented on my picture! That certainly made my day!

Hello and thank you to those of you who have just started following. That makes my day too! :)
*Edit: I have changed a little more than just adding the banner to the blog now!!! ;)

Lattice Shawl Show and Tell

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter! This weekend was pretty relaxing for me. I had Saturday off this week so my friend and I got together and went shopping. Mainly food and makeup, but I did get a cardigan and a pair of tan flats so I have library appropriate footwear for spring. The rest of the weekend was spent crocheting.

In a couple of weeks my friend (same one I went shopping with) is going to a semi-formal dinner. She went out and bought a dress but felt like it needed some sort of wrap or shawl. Well, the sock yarn one I'm knitting is moving along at a snail's pace so I grabbed some worsted weight yarn and I'm going to crochet a much simpler design that she will have it in plenty of time!

This shawl is so simple!
Keep your eyes open, I may be posting another pattern here soon!
I love this color!! Caron Simply Soft / Pagoda.

The weather is warming up and the tree branches are covered in red buds and it's warm enough during the day for me to be able to sit on the porch and crochet or at least add the fringe to this. That takes forever!

Here is the same shawl I'm crocheting now but in a different color in my Etsy shop:

Christmas in July

First of all...

Etsy Expiring Listings Sale!! Toddler Hat, Shawl, and Crochet Tote just $5 each!!!! (They would make excellent gifts for Christmas in July! ;) ) www.etsy.com/shop/wizardofoddsandends

Secondly...

As I expected to happen, I have fallen behind on my 29 days challenge. When you make 2 different doilies and unravel them both to make a third that you decided you liked better...you get behind with things. I am, however, keeping a rough daily record of what I worked on so I will be able to give an accurate account of crafts completed in the not-so-distant future.

Thirdly...

I think that's all for now. It's late and I have to go to sleep.
